About SBC At The Cross

1 Corinthians 1:18 For the word of the cross is foolishness to those who are perishing, but to us who are being saved it is the power of God.

What Is "At The Cross"?

At the Cross is the college / young adult ministry of Southwest Bible Church. Our purpose is to carry out the mission of Southwest Bible Church by seeing young people won to Christ, built up in their faith, and equipped to do the work of ministry. Between the ages of 18-30 most of us will face a great number of important life decisions. Our ministry’s passion is to come relentlessly to the foot of the cross; to learn Jesus, and see our world and decisions through the lens of his person and work.

Carrying Out The Mission Of Our Church:

At the Cross is a ministry of Southwest Bible Church. It is not a church. It is not a substitute for church. The leadership of At the Cross is dedicated not only to seeing young adults grow in Christ within a context of peers, but also to seeing young adults fully integrate into the church body. Ultimately, we want At the Cross to be a beginning point of involvement among the whole of Southwest Bible, not an ending point.

Being Won To Christ

At the Cross is a gospel-centered ministry. We believe that each person’s greatest need is to know God through Jesus Christ. This means we value winning unbelievers to Christ through evangelism. It also means continually re-winning the hearts of believers to Christ through emphasis on the evangel itself. Our weekly Sunday morning class and Thursday small groups are great times to experience Christ-centered Biblical teaching, and genuine community with gospel-centered people.

Sunday Mornings: We meet at 10:00am (during the Sunday School hour) at Southwest Bible Church in room 221.

Thursday Evenings: We meet at 7:00pm for small groups.

Being Built Up In Faith

At the Cross desires to see genuine gospel relationships formed. Our Thursday evening small groups are designed with the purpose of helping you both to be encouraged and to be an encouragement to others in your walk with Jesus. We also gather for a number of social activities throughout the year, including a Summer Retreat.

Being Equipped For Ministry

At the Cross believes in serving others according to the example of our Lord, Jesus. Our vision is to minister to our church, our larger community in the Beaverton / Portland area, and even other parts of the world. Opportunities are available to serve in various capacities within our ministry, within our church, with the Portland Rescue Mission, with our church’s missionaries, and more.
